8 Tips for Making the Most of Your Engagement Session

With spring officially here and engagement sessions coming up fast, I wanted to post some of my own personal tips to help inspire you to make the most of your upcoming engagement session!

  • Tip #1: Wear bright colors or fun pastels. For example, something like hot pink, light pink, light purple, blue and white floral, or any type of floral dress. This will make you really stand out from the background! Dresses are always a great option, or you could do jeans with cute shoes or heels with a flattering top!
    • Guys – go with a nice button down or a solid shirt, with long pants or jeans. Even wear a suit if you’re feeling fancy and that’s your style! Avoid flip flops and shorts if you can! Also, avoid big, flashy logos that can be distracting, or graphic tees.

  • Tip #2: Cherish this moment with your partner! You only get to do this once! Let this be a time where you really live in the moment and think about how excited you are about your upcoming wedding!

  • Tip #3: Bring your furry friend! Get the most out of the session by including your dog! It’ll make it more fun and you’ll cherish your pictures even more! If you decide to bring your dog, you’ll need to bring someone to the session to watch the dog after we’re done taking photos with him/her.

  • Tip #4: Choose a photographer you love! Then you can relax going into the photoshoot knowing they’ll take care of you and photograph you in the most flattering light. All you have to do is show up!

  • Tip #5: Think of how you’ll want to print your photos! To get the most out of your session, have a plan on how you’ll want to print them later! Buy some cheap frames on Amazon or Ikea, or print them off to display at your bridal shower or reception!

  • Tip #6: Clean your rings & paint your nails! You’ll be glad you did when you look at your photos later in years to come! I’ll be getting some close up shots of your ring and consequently your hands too!

  • Tip #7: Wear something you’re comfortable in. It’s ok and even encouraged to wear something fancy, but you don’t want your outfit to make you extra self-conscious or result in you constantly having to mess with it!

  • Tip #8: Relax and have fun! You have enough stress already to worry about. Let this be fun and trust your photographer to do the work! You just have fun and enjoy this special moment!
